Webmasters can get visitors to their site by using articles or information from free content directories or information curating.[/stextbox]

This is often likely when you have just begun working as an affiliate and do not yet have any spare cash to use for outsourcing or research. Yet you need to build small niche websites with the intention that you will begin revenue generation.

Although this can sometimes function as the only system for those who are running on a non-existent budget. It is not a way which will actually achieve the expectations for your blog or build your revenue. There are a few explanations why this strategy is detrimental to your content generation process.

Content and major search engines

[/stextbox]

If your content marketing strategy is to use content that appears on other sites your site will be classed as inferior.

[stextbox id=”info” tartag=”strong”]Using articles that appear on other sites reduces your chances of getting good search engine rankings. That is unless the article is your creation.[/stextbox]

Promoting shared articles is not the same as duplicate content. The originator of the article always scores higher on the search engines rating scale.

To attract new visitors to your site you need to spend time on search engine optimization and building quality content. It is one of the main ways to make sure that your visitors click on your affiliate links.

If you cannot get visitors, then you will never make any revenue. I repeat building great content needs to be your priority number one; two and three if you are to build a successful website.

Unfortunately this is only half of the process.

Satisfying your visitor’s desire to find a solution to their problem is your main task through your content design. You will also convince them that you know what you are talking about. In achieving that they will click on your links out of their trust for you.

But, if your visitors notice the same content they have seen on other sites, they are going to be less likely to click on your links.

People seek products that someone, who they trust, recommended or who they feel is an authority in their field.

Publishing work from a free article directory shows that you are not going to know the different options that may be available. You will not be a reliable resource in their research for a solution to their problem.

Author by-lines that steal your content

[/stextbox]

Most free content is given to you if you promise to place the authors byline under their article. You will get into trouble if you try to use it without implementing the stipulated rules of the directory. This poses a problem because most author bylines include links.

Every time you attract a visitor and they read a copied article there is a strong possibility that they will go to the author’s page.

This is the main reason why these authors offer free content to start with, so that they may get their name and links out there to the public.

Using this type of content you may be shooting yourself in the foot. Losing possible profit from the website traffic you worked so hard to create.

By using complimentary articles you are looking at a serious potential reduction in your revenue.

You may believe that it is your only way to produce content for your site. You may think that you cannot produce good content. You do not have the funds available to buy articles written especially for you.

I promise you that even if you are not a budding Shakespeare, writing your own words will come across as genuine content.
